The job:

  • Management of the marketing, content, conferences, events, publications, PR and corporate communications programmes for The London Book Fair, one of the leading events in the Reed Exhibitions worldwide portfolio.
  • Overall responsibility for visitor and exhibitor multi-channel marketing campaigns, including corporate communications.
  • Appointment and management of external suppliers and consultants.
  • Working closely with internal departments, other Reed Exhibitions’ book fairs globally and our network of agents and promoters around the globe.
  • Writing of the Strategic Reviews, Marketing Plans, Business Operating Plans, Monthly and Post Show Reports
  • Relationship management with industry partners, trade associations and our advisory panels - both locally and globally.
  • Forecasting and overall management responsibility for the marketing and events budgets.
  • Develop and follow through own ideas and keep pace with this rapidly changing market.
  • Support the UK and international LBF team and sales agents with promotional material and activities.
  • Direct line management of the Conference Manager and Marketing Executive.

The candidate:

  • Is an experienced trade marketing professional with significant experience in marketing to the UK or international book industry or in international events.
  • Is a strategic thinker with good analytical and communications skills.
  • Can allocate and manage marketing budgets and achieve cost savings and innovations.
  • Has the creative ability to further develop event programmes and launch new strategic initiatives.
  • Can build and manage effective relationships with our key international partners and suppliers and be culturally sensitive.
  • Has strong commercial acumen and can confidently negotiate at a senior level.
  • Has a good understanding of web based marketing.
  • Copes well under pressure, can meet deadlines, is flexible, self-motivated, can regularly travel and is determined to succeed in this key role.
  • Is a team player with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Is preferably degree and CIM qualified.
  • Foreign languages and knowledge of international markets would certainly be an advantage.
