Business Development Manager

South East England / London (Greater) / London (South), London (Greater)£35 to £40k plus commission

About Us:

Flexi is Sportsworld's in-house bespoke events team. Established in 1997, Flexi delivers everything from conferences, gala dinners, award ceremonies and overseas incentive programmes, to smaller more specialised events such as golf days, private jets to the vineyards of France, track days and VIP alpine experiences.

Job Purpose:     

This role is to proactively drive new business and develop existing and new relationships.  Whilst building the brand this role will also include reviewing marketing strategy (i.e. collateral, advertising opportunities, networking etc).  In addition to key sales activity this role will also work closely with the operations team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Key contact for bespoke event sales (to include conference and incentive events)
  • Develop the company profile and marketing activity
  • Full management of the sales process from identification of lead through to close of sale
  • Participation in team meetings and new initiative “think tanks”
  • Working with the operations team manage new business pitch processes
  • Maintain and build upon relationships with existing active clients, including proactive telephone and e-mail account management
  • Research, identify and proactively target new clients for new events
  • Attendance at client meetings and trade events to further strengthen and develop client relationships and keep abreast of industry trends and news
  • Responding to incoming sales enquiries, maximising opportunities to convert new business
  • Attendance at events as necessary to maintain client relationships
  • Design and development of events in conjunction with client requirements and objectives
  • Research and development of special projects

Skills and experience required:

To succeed in this challenging and varied role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Previous experience in business development and event management with a particular emphasis on conference and incentive events
  • Ability to work on own initiative and build relationships with new and existing clients
  • Capability to build the company profile externally
  • Proactive with creative ideas and suggestions on the type of events we do/should offer
  • Enthusiastic and motivated team member
  • Ability to work closely with others at all levels both internally and externally in a highly professional and customer service oriented manner
