This new high profile state of the art training and meeting facility is recruiting an experienced Business Development Manager to proactively develop accounts by identifying and closing profitable business. Opened at the beginning of the year, this venue is looking for a senior sales professional responsible for building on their success to date and fast tracking the growth of the client portfolio of this facility for the future. Focusing on new business and some account management, the role requires a candidate with a structured, strategic and persistent approach. You will be expected to seek new business opportunities through your own initiative and by working closely with the Head of Business Development to drive company marketing activities with a measurable impact, as well as maintaining a network of contacts and agencies that enhance opportunities for new and repeat business.

As well as sales, you will be responsible for the activity and development of a small team including an Account Executive and Training Centre Manager, ensuring that active leads are appropriately cascaded to the team to develop and close. This role requires constant forward thinking, effective team/group support, training, development, coaching and mentoring to ensure the team is well positioned to achieve ambitious individual and team revenue targets. Target sectors for this role will include corporate, government and other sectors which underpin London's key growth areas.

You will have previous experience developing and executing corporate sales strategies, with a demonstrable track record of managing a portfolio of corporate business. You must be able to demonstrate a solid track record of business development experience with new and existing clients, as well as experience of building and developing sales teams and managing people.

Responsibilities include:
  • Identifying and closing business efficiently.
  • Maintaining a network of contacts, partners and industry bodies that enhances opportunities for new and repeat business.
  • Identifying core sectors and industries/markets that should be targeted.
  • Effectively managing and developing existing clients to ensure high levels of repeat business and account growth.
  • Professionally managing client relationships from initial enquiry to post event.
  • Managing and motivating a small team of enthusiastic staff to be creative and innovative with a commercial approach.
  • Allocating accounts to the team to make best use of their skills and abilities.
  • Attending networking events and industry related conferences to create new business contacts and potential leads.

Successful candidates are likely to have previous experience as Director of Sales within large hotel groups or Account Manager/Director roles from other venues, venue finding agencies or production companies. Degree education is desirable.
