Truly unique opportunity for creative Visitor programme and Event specialist to join this iconic heritage organisation and site, in a senior role, to develop and deliver varied annual programme of public events and activities.

The Organisation:
Leading London Visitor Attraction - visited by millions of international guests through the year, to enjoy it's surrounds and the varied range of events, festivals and programmes that it offers to further enhance and encourage visitors, and support the site's commercial viability.

In this truly fantastic role, you'll be the lead for both the creative development, co-ordination and delivery of the annual programme of festivals, exhibitions and events at this world-renowned Attraction. The result - attracting an increasing number of global visitors to this unique site, and the resultant essential delivery of income objectives, generating commercial return, while providing inspiring and thought provoking experiences that engage (and entertain) visitors in the vision and mission of the Attraction. This position heads up three teams: Commercial Events (annual series of cultural/music/theatrical ticketed events), Visitor Programmes (seasonal programme of events, installations and festivals for day-visitors), and the Gallery team (art exhibitions).

Key areas of responsibility:
  • Visitor Programme and Event Development - develop annual visitor programme of events in line with the organisation's brand, objectives and marketing strategies, identifying gaps and opportunities. Lead the teams in commissioning and developing creative and engaging content for visitor programme. Ensuring commercial viability of all projects
  • Visitor Programme and Event Delivery - lead operational delivery of events, festivals and experiences , including management of internal operational teams and varied suppliers
  • Galleries - manage team and programming
  • Marketing & PR - work with sales and marketing, design and media relations teams
  • Stakeholder management - work collaboratively with internal colleagues to ensure effective delivery of events, exhibitions and festivals, and with external stakeholders (eg artists, commercial event producers, local authority,community groups
  • Health and Safety, supplier relationships, sustainability policy
  • Financial and people management

You'll have a proven track record working at a major visitor attraction (cultural, botanical or heritage) bringing the skills and experience to develop creative and commercial programmes, working with varied internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and creative partners, as well as direct and manage a diverse operational team.

Essential requirements include:
  • Proven track record of leading a similar team in a similar organisation, developing and delivering a highly successful annual programme of events that achieved budget and communications objectives
  • Highly numerate with the ability to devise and manage event budgets successfully.
  • Significant successful experience of delivering large scale events or projects with multiple stakeholders and complex risks and delivery targets.
  • Vision and creativity, with a successful track-record of building creative partnerships, interpreting communications briefs in creative ways, and championing new event ideas through to successful delivery.
  • Ability to influence and build strong working relationships, internally and externally, with stakeholders, creatives and varied suppliers
  • Excellent organisational, project management and planning skills.
  • Strong track record of to managing, leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of working in a heritage visitor attraction, or green space environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
