UN supported sustainability policy body seeks experienced Conference Manager to manage content, stakeholders and speakers for series of global sustainability events.

THE ORGANISATION
UN endorsed organisation which promotes best practice within the global finance/investment sector integrating environmental, social and corporate governance issues - developing partnerships and events that bring together policy makers, academics, the media, the UN and industry professionals globally.

THE ROLE
The organisation hosts over 100 events globally each year, ranging from their annual 1,000+ flagship conference, to smaller conferences, roundtables of CEOs and informal networking drinks - high profile and prestigious. Working alongside the Director of Events, the Conference Manager will be the key project manager for the content aspects of events, from research and agenda development, stakeholder liaison and management, speaker acquisition through to on-site management of speakers at major conference event.
(Initial one year fixed term contract, with good potential to extend to a more permanent position)

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Work with internal content specialists and the Director of Events to develop draft programmes for new series of one-day conferences, ensure appropriate speakers are recruited etc
  • Lead on researching and project managing conference content for major annual flagship event (140 speakers) - research conference topics and agendas, responding to market developments and signatory demands, consulting and collaborating with colleagues, signatories and other stakeholders
  • Speaker acquisition and management - source and recruit speakers and high profile keynotes, managing the speaker invitation, briefing process
  • Project and stakeholder management of all conference content
  • On-site responsibility for the running of the conference programme, speaker management etc
  • Write event marketing content for newsletters and websites
  • Work closely with the event logistics and partnership teams to deliver top quality event programme


THE CANDIDATE
You'll bring a solid track record of conference programme and content development (from within the financial/investment industry, business, sustainability or economics sectors is useful but not essential. However interest is). Key is your ability to manage stakeholders, and to have excellent project management skills to balance the varied needs of signatories. Able to develop relationships and work in close consultation with varied industry and internal content experts and stakeholders. Good copywriter, great at developing innovative and relevant content. Excellent stakeholder management and project management skills, diplomatic, innovative - strategic yet happy to get your hands dirty.

Key requirements:
  • Track record of conference programming/content development and managing medium-to-large scale conference programmes.
  • Ability to research and identify market trends, hot topics and speakers and convert these to compelling live events
  • Experience of recruiting and managing C-level speakers/keynotes is essential
  • Experience adding new or innovative conference features, content or formats that drive increased delegate attendance, engagement and satisfaction
  • Sector experience within financial, sustainability, investment, business or economics highly desirable, but not essential
  • Essential - excellent networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills - ability to forge long term relationships with industry leaders and senior level contacts
  • Excellent copywriting skills
  • Excellent project management skills (used to dealing with multi-steam event requirements)
  • As this is a global role, international travel will be required
