This high profile state of the art events and conferences venue is recruiting an experienced Business Development Manager to proactively develop the growth of a new conference and events business from the corporate market, aiming at the low volume/high revenue end of the market in the UK and Europe. Growth will be achieved through direct and indirect interactions through event and non-event related opportunities and will require the candidate to develop and grow excellent relationships with agencies, external partners and industry associations leading to increased sales.

The role requires a strategic, persistent and structured approach in a highly competitive market. You will be expected to seek new business opportunities through your own initiative and by working closely with the Head of Business Development to drive company marketing activities with a measurable impact.

You will have previous experience developing and executing corporate sales strategies with a demonstrable track record of business development within the corporate events industry, using a destination marketing approach and consultative selling techniques. Significant experience in securing preferred supplier status with corporate clients is required, as well as the ability to identify high vs low potential business.

Responsibilities include:
  • Identifying and closing high yield business efficiently.
  • Maintaining a network of contacts, partners and industry bodies that enhances opportunities for new and repeat business.
  • Identifying core sectors and industries/markets that should be targeted.
  • Building detailed knowledge and trends of the audiences these target clients want to reach and cross-profile against existing audiences already attending events at the venue.
  • Delivering high impact for wider team via internal business referrals and recommendations.
  • Exploring potential for areas of the venue to be utilised for business other than space rental.
  • Creating strategies to target opportunities for key corporate accounts to engage further with the venue.
  • Attending networking events and industry related conferences.

You will need drive, energy and persistence for this exciting role, showing resilience in difficult situations and flexibility to meet the varying demands of a fast-paced sales environment. Degree education is desirable.
