Immediate start for an experienced Event Director who loves leading a team and working on large and complex event projects. Contract role likely to extend with further projects.

Surrey-based global marketing agency who deliver award-winning integrated event and communications campaigns for major corporate clients are looking for an experienced Event Director to take the helm of major client event.

Initial six month contract, to start asap - highly likely would extend to 12-18 months - working on further standalone projects. You'll be responsible for the delivery of a major event - 3,000 delegates, 5 streams, breakouts, plenary theatre and exhibition, taking place in London in February. For a major corporate client within the tech sector. It's a large and logistically complex event, incorporating over 150 speakers - and very significant within its market place. As Event Director you'll be overseeing a team of dedicated Managers across the key project areas - Logistics, Speaker Management, Sponsors, Exhibition etc. Your role is to oversee the team and project, and be the main client contact throughout, reporting, managing the timeline, motivating and supporting the team and being the main client interface, dealing with diverse queries across the project. You'll take the project through to on-site delivery, and post event reconciliation and debrief..

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead on delivering the event - including overseeing logistics, speaker management, sponsorship management, delegate management and financial management
  • Clearly direct and drive the team with clear decision making to deliver a seamless event
  • Offer clear strategic thought at all levels, understanding client needs, thinking outside the box and ensuring the client is given quality direction at all times
  • Ensure that work is delegated appropriately and work done to the right standard - manage team resource appropriately, and developing their skills and task exposure
  • Ensure management team are regularly updated on progress of event - firefight as required!
  • Drive team synergy and positive team spirit to ensure your team feels supported, can execute and deliver assigned aspects of the client business plan on time and budget, and has a clear understanding of team and individual goals
  • Be main day-2-day client contact

You're an experienced Event Director/Senior Event Manager, with excellent team leadership and client management skills, with relevant experience within large scale event delivery, covering complex logistics across speaker, delegate and sponsor activity. Great interpersonal skills, positive with a focus on client service and exceptional event delivery.

Key requirements include:-
  • Experience of organising large scale events (1,000+ delegates)
  • Ideally an existing Event Director/Senior Event Manager - minimum 7 years experience orgainsing live events, meetings and exhibitions
  • Agency experience - with previous client management at a senior stakeholder level
  • Strong project management across varied event functions
  • Experience of producing client budgets and closely tracking campaign costs
  • Experience managing a wider team pre-event and on-site - with the ability to troubleshoot on-site
  • Immaculate attention to detail and writing skills
  • Self motivated, confident and positive attitude - articulate with excellent interprsonal and communication skills
  • Calm under pressure
