Great opportunity taking the lead on delivering the varied events making up the conference side of this major 5 day international flagship media industry event.

Leading organisation working within the media production and broadcast sector - they deliver a major annual flagship industry event which attracts over 55,000 attendees, over 1,500 exhibitors. Their conference programme is an unrivalled global destination for discussion and debate both in its sessions and in the range of networking opportunities it affords. This is your opportunity to play a key part in bringing the event to fruition, by taking the lead on the conference operations side of this exciting and very impressive project.

As Conference Operations Manager, you'll lead your team of Executives as you plan and deliver the varied conference elements of the event - so all logistical and production elements of the busy conference programme, sessions and special and networking events. This role would suit a Senior Event Manager who has worked on large congresses and conference events, and loves the challenge of working across large and complex events. (nb this is initially a 1 year contract as this is a new role)

Responsibilities include:
  • Lead on the delivery of conference operations - implement event project and communications plans, manage pre-event progress around key milestones
  • Manage a team of event executives, allocating specific responsibilities for each aspect of the event including the venue logistics, speakers, equipment, services suppliers - as well as liaising with internal teams.
  • Manage key relationships with speakers, VIP guests, venue, contractors and suppliers
  • Oversee budget, reporting etc
  • Oversee event team on site (international location - multi day event)

You'll be an experienced Senior Events Manager - ideally with specific experience delivering large conference events and experience of managing a team/delegating. You'll ideally have experience of working on fairly complex conferences/congresses, which combine a number of subsidiary events. You'll have solid H&S understanding and experience of managing large budgets. As well as your previous event experience, you'll be an excellent communicator, a good leader and team player - and enjoy the excitement and challenges of working on large scale events.
Key requirements:
  • Proven experience working on large scale events - multi-stream conference logistics, varied sub-events etc
  • Excellent project management, event logistics and event planning skills
  • Experience of overseeing a team/delegating to executives
  • Excellent customer service and account management skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills, stakeholder management
  • Confident communicator - orally and in writing, who can engage with senior stakeholders inside and outside the organisation
  • Flexible, proactive, clear sighted, calm and composed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enjoys being a key part of a large team
  • Can go on-site for the duration of the event (dates will be supplied during the application process if appropriate)
