Event Manager
One of London's well known venues and visitor attractions seeks an Events Sales Manager on a 12 month contract to cover maternity, to work with the Commercial Events team to identify new opportunities and develop a marketing strategy for promoting the venue for commercial events. You will have significant experience of proactive sales in a unique venue, managing budgets and be target driven and ambitious. This position is a twelve month maternity contract.

Main responsibilities:
  • Identify new opportunities for the commercial events business and establish key targeted corporate, agency and association clients
  • Proactively sell the venue for conferences, filming and events
  • Achieve budgeted business targets
  • Up sell secondary resources, such as AV and catering
  • Develop and deliver a marketing strategy for commercial hire
  • Work with the Head of Commercial Events to ensure that all financial targets are met or exceeded
  • Create and execute a plan of sales activities including sales calls, presentations, tradeshows and market relevant activities
  • Develop the commercial use of the site and its buildings as a venue for conferences and general hire, including commercial filming & photography, and to ensure that the venue's facilities are promoted in an appropriate manner
  • Research, identify and actively approach companies and organisations that have the capacity to hire the venue, ensuring that new prospects are cultivated appropriately
  • Account manage existing event clients and be responsible for managing the stewardship of these relationships
  • Liaise with other departments to maximise the income generating opportunities for venue in areas including events, sponsorship and membership
  • Work with the Head of Commercial Events and the Marketing department, to develop a range of marketing tools to maximise hires across site, including ensuring web pages are up-to-date and identifying advertising opportunities
  • Maximise on all marketing platforms available to venue, such as London and Partners, etc
  • Understand and investigate any H&S or operational implications new events and clients could have on the site
  • Attend industry networking events and manage client cultivation events at the venue

Essential skills and experience:
  • Significant experience of proactive sales in a venue, preferably a unique or unusual venue
  • Target driven and ambitious
  • Experience of tracking return on investment
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how events contribute to meeting financial targets
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Have an understanding of the complexities of working and selling a multipurpose arts venue
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Have an understanding of marketing
