Job Details

Haymarket are recruiting for an Event Marketing Executive to manage the marketing across a portfolio of events primarily comprising Awards and/or Forums for Haymarket Business Media brands in their specific market sectors reporting to and working with the more senior members of the marketing and broader events team.

Background for the role:

Marketing is a key part of the success of our Awards. It allows us to communicate with both our clients and audiences and has a direct impact in terms of our content on our websites and how these work cohesively with the Brand’s own website.

The main remit of the marketing executive is to identify areas to increase revenues and or to push growth via new companies entering, or increasing number of entries from existing clients.

This role is also seen as a link between the events managers and other internal and external departments where we work closely on data, email booking, tracking and completion, collaboration with our external website design team, uploading and maintaining the content on our websites for each Award scheme.

They will be part of a large team who collectively deliver 40 industry-leading events per year.

Detailed tasks:

Ensure Haymarket Events web site works fully and effectively for Awards projects.

Work closely with internal departments to have clear cross-promotion deadlines and to implement any necessary cross-promotion.

Ensure that our external web suppliers work effectively and efficiently with Haymarket Events on all awards sites.

Be able to work on the Eventsforce or equivalent entry system, by launching and working on the system to ensure each event is launched on time.

To cascade all changes clearly to the event managers on best practice, changes within the event management system, or key changes or issues that have effected one events manager and may therefore have an impact on the whole team.

Liaise with relevant events managers to define key target audiences, clarify and/or enhance the project marketing plan and planned deadlines, recommending or implementing changes where necessary.

To work with the data team to successfully understand and implement the customer marketing database to allow the event managers to target the defined key contacts for each Award.

To eventually understand each Awards project (with some exceptions) to ensure you are aware of where entries come from, how that audience is reached, whether there is a greater potential audience and how that greater pool can be fished successfully, both on- and offline. This process could mean taking responsibility for sourcing or building new contact lists with which the event managers can then work to benefit a project.

Monitor email campaigns for effectiveness. Test subject lines/timings/content to ensure messaging is consistently reaching peak targets. Keep an ongoing calendar of weekly promotional emails going out and identify circumstances where more emails should be booked.

To be aware of the relevant industry sector events where marketing may be able to enhance our reach into the sector. To possibly attend, with the relevant events manager, any industry exhibitions or shows to gain further insight into the sector and build new data.

Apply all appropriate techniques and resources to optimizing entry levels and event attendance: advertising, direct mail, email, e-bulleting, Google Ads, event industry directories, trade association discounts for members, editorial, newsletters from relevant organizations, Haymarket Events web site, individual project web sites, e-commerce optimization.

You will be expected to understand and utilize to Haymarket’s benefit new or currently unused channels to market, including twitter, linkedIn, facebook, blogs, pinterest and to work closely with the event coordinators and event managers to enhance the social media interest around each Award, especially in the run up and post event and to build a community.

Build relationships with Haymarket’s brand teams to ensure the Awards marketing effort is respected and then enhanced by working more closely with the brands.

Build relationships with external suppliers/ contacts such as Boost Marketing, Awards Intelligence, The Year Ahead, and PR Companies to promote Haymarket Events and our Awards on external websites etc.

Work closely with the event managers at all levels to ensure that their marketing and promotional plans take full account of the department’s accumulated knowledge and your specifically accumulated expertise. (Your job will not be to take over their project marketing responsibilities, but to ensure that they fully meet objectives and deliver budget-plus entries and attendance, thus driving contribution)

To track site traffic via Google Analytics and work with relevant Event Managers to increase traffic from internal and external referral sources.

A key part of the role will be to ensure that all content on the Award website is updated throughout the life of an Awards. This would include updates at the start of the process, once the shortlist has been announced, updates throughout the dinner marketing timeline and to ensure that all online information regarding the shortlist and winners post event is ready on the day of the event to go live immediately post event. The website then needs to continue to be relevant until the Awards are launched again for the next year by including pictures, video, blogs and updated twitter information.

Personal attributes:

The role is an entry-level marketing role, suited ideally for someone who has an interest in events and media ideally with a marketing degree.

We expect the person to have a focus on the digital aspect of the role and to have experience of running website content and key marketing skills.

The role will be across a number of events so being able to multi-task and work across a number of deadlines and projects is a key attribute required.

You will find the role requires high standards of numeracy and literacy, the ability to interact well with colleagues both in the department and externally, a good sense of humour whilst being able to work in a department driven by deadlines and events. It may mean that some out of hours work is necessary due to the nature of the role.
