Do you have experience of working within project teams in a fundraising, events or marketing environment and a real desire to own, manage and develop your own portfolio? Then join Shelter as a Senior Community & Events Manager and you could soon be doing just that.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

Our Community and Events team prides itself on developing and delivering creative, innovative partnerships, products and events while ensuring excellent customer service.  A high value challenge events portfolio includes Shelter’s own flagship events - Vertical Rush and Urban Rush. We also support, develop and promote successful community fundraising initiatives and deliver an ambitious special events portfolio of high-profile cultural events and festival partnerships.

About the Role

The challenge here will be to lead our portfolio of bespoke Challenge Events and develop a strategy that will maximise growth and engagement potential and in turn increase income. As well as setting, managing and reporting on budgets for your own portfolio, we’ll rely on you to line manage the Community & Events Manager and one of the Community & Events Co-ordinators too. The role also offers great development potential via the opportunity to drive forward our Bespoke Events series, explore new ways of working and maximise potential growth across our entire portfolio of events.

About you

Creative, innovative and proactive, your successful track record to date has been gained in a related environment. What’s more, you enjoy working as part of a team and are comfortable line-managing others. The ability to apply lateral thinking, challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas is important too, as is respect for others’ opinions. Adept at using databases/CRM systems, you know your way round Microsoft Office too. And, when it comes to communicating effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels, again, you can be counted upon to deliver.

Apply to be part of our award-winning fundraising team and be the change you want to see in society.

Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave (pro rata), the possibility of flexible working, enhanced family friendly policies and significant opportunities for learning and development.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We're here so no-one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.

Safeguarding is everyone’s business. Shelter is committed to protecting the health, wellbeing and human rights of those we support, and enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. All our staff will be expected to observe professional standards of behaviour and conduct their work in line with our Safeguarding Policies.
