Job Details

We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of working on fundraising or events projects, to join us as a Community & Events Coordinator and help us raise income and meet targets on a variety of events.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

Our Community and Events team prides itself on developing and delivering creative, innovative partnerships, products and events while ensuring excellent customer service.  A high value challenge events portfolio includes third-party events (such as Virgin London Marathon, RideLondon and Great North Run) and Shelter’s own flagship events - Vertical Rush and Urban Rush. We also support, develop and promote successful community fundraising initiatives and deliver an ambitious special events portfolio of high-profile cultural events and festival partnerships.

About the role
You will be working on our third-party challenge events portfolio, project managing and delivering Shelter’s participation in these events. Not only will you be responsible for marketing and delivering your events, you will also work with your colleagues to deliver a superior supporter experience and maximise growth and engagement potential for your audiences.

About you
Relevant experience, plus a proactive, collaborative and results-driven approach, is essential. We’ll also be looking for a proven ability to monitor and report on income and expenditure budgets and use a CRM system. Commercially aware, creative and innovative, you're used to communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver results and have a flair for quickly understanding supporter or customer needs and working to meet and exceed their expectations. What’s more, you're willing to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes when appropriate.

Apply to be part of our award-winning fundraising team and be the change you want to see in society.

Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, the possibility of flexible working, enhanced family friendly policies and significant opportunities for learning and development.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We're here so no-one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.

Safeguarding is everyone’s business. Shelter is committed to protecting the health, wellbeing and human rights of those we support, and enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. All our staff will be expected to observe professional standards of behaviour and conduct their work in line with our Safeguarding Policies.

Closing date: 22nd March 2019 at 12 noon. Interviews: 4th April 2019
