Job Details
A high profile charitable heritage venue in the heart of London, seeks a Head of Events to work in the commercial arm of the organisation on a maternity cover role to work in this truly unique venue with a variety of internal and outdoor event spaces.
The role will require an experienced venue professional to be responsible for the day to day activities of the venue, to maintain or even increase the commercial arm's financial contribution to the charity. The successful applicants will have direct responsibility for three operations staff and shared responsibility for four sales staff who are employed by their caterers.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the HoE will oversee all commercial activity for the organisation, maximising profitability within the constraints of the charitable objects and members needs whilst delivering the highest standards of service, operations and delivery.
Management responsibilities
Overall responsibility for the professional management of all events that take place at the venue.
Maintain links with networking organisations and other industry professionals in order to benefit from shared
business intelligence.
To manage the commercial trading budget ensuring that expenditure is controlled and profitability maintained.
Recruitment and appraisals of direct report team
Space and facility management. Oversee the co-ordination of facilities for Company and commercial events in
the venues and on the Grounds.
Operational responsibilities:
To manage the Operations Team through the Senior Operations Manager
Deliver operational excellence within all event process
Ensuring the Premises Licence forvenue is kept up to date.
To oversee accredited suppliers on events ensuring that they provide a high level of service to the client
Input into health and safety compliance as required to deliver best practice
Input into security processes as required to deliver best practice
Sales Responsibilities:
The appointed Caterer provides the Sales Function, the following tasks are delivered in collaboration with Searcys:
To forecast, set, monitor and achieve sales targets
Determine optimal pricing to balance profit with customer satisfaction
To manage the bookings diary process ensuring optimum use of the venue
Oversee product and service development within the portfolio
To maintain a consistent trajectory of growth whilst delivering a dynamic sales strategy in line with economic
conditions
Marketing responsibilities:
The appointed Catererprovides part of the Marketing function in line with the sales delivery.
To manage the advertising strategy
To oversee the sales and marketing plan, monitoring it continuously to account for any changes in the marketplace
To monitor the competition and market place.
You will need to be available to start work on 1st May for 9-12 months. You must be experieced in running a sizeable venue at Head of Events or General Manager level, have strong leadership skills, be able to manage key stakeholders and deliver the highest customer service standards.
