Fixed Term contract for 2 years.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Administrator to support our busy Advanced Courses and Scientific Conference Programme at the Wellcome Genome Campus. 

Working within the Scientific Conference’s event management team you will support the Conference & Events Manager and the Conference & Events Organisers team with their day to day administration. The workload will be varied and include setting up conference calls, processing speaker expense claim forms, attending meetings and minute taking, managing the group e-mail account and updating and maintaining databases, websites and spreadsheets. 

To succeed in the role of Conference & Events Office Administrator you will be methodical and well organised, you will be able to work well within a small team and demonstrate excellent communication skills. You will need to be able to work flexibly, meet deadlines and help work on a number of Conference & Events projects which will be at different stages simultaneously.

  • Ability to cope with pressure and meet tight deadlines 
  • Must be able to work as part of a team within a defined organisational structure 
  • Experience of database entry, along with good knowledge of MS Office applications (especially Excel and Word) 

Ideal Skills

  • Experience in scientific administration or working with academic researchers or commercial organisations organising workshops, conferences, or other events
  • Ability to work flexible hours on occasions to assist the events team during out of office hours at external conferences and events would be desirable but not essential
