THE ROLE
This is an exciting and interesting permanent Head of Events position working for a leading central London institute / society. In this role you'll be heading up of the Conference/Events department (managing a team of 3 event staff), increasing event income (primarily via event sponsorship) as well as strategically revitalising & expanding the Society's venue-hire side offering.
This role will also include Event and Venue marketing, overseeing the full end to end management of a wide range of UK based conferences and events (2-3 flagship conferences with dinners & social events, talks, & lectures, receptions, seminars, award ceremonies and Careers Days for circa 30-500pax), growing and nurturing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and driving forward (and meeting) financial targets for the Conference/Events department as well as the venue.
ABOUT YOU
You'll be an experienced Head of Events with a commercial approach to conference & event delivery.
You'll have a solid background in the end to end event management of a range of B2B conferences, events, meetings, public lectures, forums, small exhibitions, gala dinners and receptions ideally working for a membership organisation, association, academic or professional sector background.
You'll have strong departmental leadership and staff management skills, experience of event marketing and event sponsorship and a good knowledge of venue-side operations and maximising occupancy/room hire.
You'll be motivated and driven as well as diplomatic, calm and approachable and must be confident establishing relationships and liaising both confidently and diplomatically with a wide range of stakeholders including members, committees, corporate sponsors, special interest groups, VIPs and those eminent in their field as well as with other Society departments and of course event suppliers and contractors).
