Merton College – University of Oxford

Alumni Relations & Events Officer – Maternity Cover

Fixed Term Contract 12-15 months

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience

Merton College was founded in 1264 and is the third oldest College in Oxford. It is well-known for the outstanding achievements of its undergraduates, and the high performance of its graduates. Its buildings and grounds are widely acknowledged as among the most beautiful in Oxford. It has a strong sense of identity and has a reputation for being a very friendly College.  The College has some 300 undergraduates and a similar number of graduate students. It has a Governing Body of over 70 Fellows, supported by more than 100 staff.

We have a fixed-term vacancy (maternity cover) for an Alumni Relations & Events Officer specialising in events to join the established Development team at a particularly exciting time in the College’s history.

The role is incredibly varied, and the successful candidate will have a proven track record in planning and delivering a year-long programme of high-quality events. The College currently organises two major alumni reunions (Gaudies), subject-specific reunions, lectures, talks and social activities in London, a US reunion weekend, and other international events. The post holder will work closely with the Development Director and the rest of the Development Office team and will also liaise regularly with colleagues across the College and alumni volunteers through the Merton Society and other UK and international alumni groups.

This is a key position with the Development Office, requiring a highly organised, enthusiastic individual with a keen attention to detail and experience in events management and communications.  The duties and skills/attributes required for this role are described in more detail in the Further Particulars.  These are available at www.merton.ox.ac.uk/vacancies

For an informal discussion about the role prior to application please contact Mark Coote, Development Director, at vacancies@merton.ox.ac.uk

Merton College offers excellent benefits including membership of the University of Oxford Staff Pension Scheme, private medical cover, 30 days holiday per year plus bank holidays and free car parking.

Those wishing to apply for this post should complete the online application at www.merton.ox.ac.uk/vacancies and upload the required documents (CV and letter of application).

The closing date for applications is noon on Wednesday 30 June 2021.
