Job Details

We are working with a high profile venue in Central London on a 1 year maternity cover role as a Commercial Event Sales Manager. In this role you will focus on maximising commercial events income for this well known multi purpose venue. You will take a holistic approach and work with colleagues to maximise income and entrepreneurial activity by proactively selling the venue for conferences, filming and events. You will upsell secondary resources such as AV and catering and ensure customer relationships are maximised by identifying new opportunities for the commercial events business, by targeting corporate, agency and association clients. You will also promote the venue by developing and delivering a marketing strategy for the commercial hire business.

Main Responsibilities
  • Create & execute a plan of sales activations including sales calls, presentations, tradeshows and market relevant activates
  • Lead on new business development for the commercial events business and brand activations
  • Account manage existing event clients and be responsible for managing the stewardship of these relationships
  • Take responsibility for the smooth handover of the event and client to an Event Manager
  • Ensure that booking dates for venue hire, including commercial filming & photography, sit in the calendar alongside other events booked into the venue
  • Ensure that all financial data related to venue hire is accurate and well-managed including the inputting of data and the raising of invoices
  • Understand and investigate any H&S or operational implications new events and clients could have on the site
  • Represent the commercial events team at cross departmental meetings.
  • Collaborate across departments, to maximise income generating opportunities for the venue in areas including events, sponsorship and membership
  • Working with the Head of Commercial Events and the Commercial Marketing Manager, to develop a range of marketing tools to maximise hires across site, including ensuring web pages are up-to-date and identifying advertising opportunities
  • Attend industry networking events and manage client cultivation events at the venue


They are looking for someone who:

● Has significant experience of a proactive sales in a venue, preferably a unique or unusual venue;
● Can demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills
● Is target driven and ambitious;
● Is a confident networker;
● Can demonstrate a thorough understanding of how events contribute to meeting financial targets;
● Has experience of managing budgets;
● Is customer orientated;
● Has an understanding of the complexities of working and selling a multipurpose venue;
● Has excellent project and time management skills;
● Has an understanding of marketing;
