The Royal Marsden Education and Conference Team

The Royal Marsden Education and Conference Team is recognised worldwide for the excellence of its study days and conferences. Attached to the internationally recognised cancer hospital, the Education and Conference Team runs events at prestigious venues across London, which attract large numbers of cancer specialists both nationally and internationally.

Conference Administrator (Customer Relations)

Chelsea, London

We are looking for an experienced Conference Administrator (Customer Relations) to provide support for our exciting and expanding cancer events programme.

Our ideal candidate would be an experienced administrator with excellent communication skills and very good Microsoft Office skills. In addition, to having experience of working within a conference and events sales environment, be able to work independently and accurately under pressure.

To be successful in this varied role we will need you to be well organised, resourceful and have outstanding communication skills.   The successful candidate will need to play an active role within our enthusiastic and committed team; this will require some flexibility in working hours.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in delivering our world-renowned programme of events: working alongside eminent cancer specialists to support them in developing our study day and conference programme.

In line with the digital transformation era, we would be particularly interested in people with experience in virtual and hybrid conference and events management, with knowledge of using Zoom/Teams meetings and other various functionalities, and the ability to identify new trends and opportunities within digital marketing.

You should have at least demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role. Word processing skills are essential, along with a working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Access, PowerPoint and Excel).

The Royal Marsden values diversity and is committed to the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority groups. We particularly welcome applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates and candidates with disabilities.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we are working to create a workplace that enables all staff to reach their full potential. We are committed to this because we know that greater diversity and inclusion will lead to an even greater positive impact for the people we serve.

Due to the high volumes of applications we receive, we reserve the right to close any adverts before the published closing date once we have received a sufficient number of applications.  We advise you to submit your application as early as possible to prevent disappointment.

All applicants will be contacted by email to the address supplied on your application. Applicants are advised to check their email accounts regularly and to ensure that email filters are set to allow our emails.

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.

ROYAL MARSDEN NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

https://www.royalmarsden.nhs.uk/

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading specialist cancer hospital. The Institute of Cancer Research works in close partnership with The Royal Marsden to take the results of our research rapidly into the clinic, with the aim of developing better treatments for cancer patients.

With hospitals in Chelsea and Sutton, and a chemotherapy suite at Kingston Hospital, The Royal Marsden treats 50,000 patients from across the UK and abroad every year. Many of these patients benefit from tailored treatment programmes accomplished through provision of molecular diagnostics – allowing doctors to determine which specific treatments will be of most benefit to a particular patient.

The ICR and The Royal Marsden are internationally renowned for our work together to conduct early- and late-phase clinical trials. Our joint Drug Development Unit, which sees around 300 patients per year, is one of the largest centres for phase I trials in the world and makes an important contribution to the worldwide effort to discover and develop new cancer drugs.

The ICR and The Royal Marsden together are ranked in the top four centres for cancer research and treatment worldwide. In 2006, we were selected as a National Institute for Health and Care Research Biomedical Research Centre specialising in cancer.
