Role:
T
he  Commercial  Events  team  manages  all  aspects  of  commercial  venue  hires  across the venue, (including major halls, reception/conference spaces, indoor spaces, outdoor spaces) as  well  as cultivation/fundraising & other internal events. As Commercial Event Sales Manager you’ll work closely with the Head of Commercial Events and the sales team to achieve the Institutions objectives – both financial and cultural. Key objectives of the role, to work with the Commercial Events team to:

  • To maximise commercial events income to achieve budgeted business target
  • To take a holistic approach and work with colleagues to maximise income and entrepreneurial activity to the benefit of the venue by:
    • Proactively selling as a venue for physical, digital and hybrid conferences, filming, brand activations and events across all its varied spaces
    • Looking  for  new  markets  and  opportunities  as  they  evolve  to  grow  and  expand  the  range  of Commercial Events business activities.
    • Up sell secondary inhouse resources, services and products.
  • To develop  and  maintain  strong  client  relationships  and  partnerships which support and enhance the core values and aims of the Venue - establishing key targeted corporate, agency and association clients – and identify  new  opportunities 
  • Research, identify and actively approach companies and organisations that have the capacity to hire the Venue, ensuring that new prospects are cultivated appropriately
  • Relationships & partnerships:

○    Develop long term, collaborative partnerships with key clients where a mutually beneficial relationship can support the aims of the Venue.

○    Account   manage   existing   event   clients   and   be   responsible  for  managing  the  stewardship  of  these relationships

●    Working  with  the  Commercial Marketing Manager, develop and deliver a marketing strategy for commercial hire
●    Manage the Commercial Event Sales Executive(s)
●    Represent  the  Commercial  Events  team  at  cross -departmental  meetings,  to  ensure  Commercial events sit alongside the other site-wide activities and develop and nurture positive relationships with other internal teams
●    Working with the Commercial Event Operations Manager, take responsibility for the smooth handover events and clients to an Event Manager
●    To  create  &  execute  a  plan  for  sales  activates  including  sales  calls,  presentations,  tradeshows  and  market relevant activates - attend industry networking events and manage client cultivation events at the Venue
●    Understand  and  investigate  any  H&S  or  operational  implications new events and clients could have on the site
 

You:
We’re looking for an experienced Venue Sales professional – ideally with a background working in a unique or unusual venue. You’ll have experience managing a team – and are a brilliant sales and relationship builder, and understand both the client and the provider requirements of events.  You are energetic and passionate about delivering excellent service, customer and solution focussed, and apply creativity and determination to your approach. You are commercially driven to achieve targets alongside superlative client experience. We are looking for someone who:

●    Has significant experience of proactive sales in a venue, preferably a unique or unusual venue
●    Can demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills
●    Is target driven and ambitious, is a confident networker
●    Has experience of managing budgets - experience of tracking return on investment
●    Can demonstrate a thorough understanding of how events contribute to meeting financial targets – has an understanding of the complexities of working and selling a multipurpose arts venue
●    Is customer orientated
●    Has experience managing a team
●   Has excellent project and time management skills; Is able to work under pressure
●    Is a strategic thinker
●    Is  able  to  work  well  and  communicate  with  a  wide  range  of  people  with  tact  and  diplomacy
●    Has an understanding of marketing
●    Can demonstrate a keen interest in and appreciation of a multi use arts and performance venue and a belief in its mission
