Make a real difference to global health at this mission-driven Federation - they are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and experienced Event Manager to plan and execute global meetings and events – working closely with the World Health Organisation and reaching member organisations in over 60 countries.

Working closely with the World Health Organisation and other global the Organisation this prestigious Body represents professional members of the scientific, specialist medical and research communities from over 50 regional and national associations focussing on this significant world public health issue – a global community of experts, advocates, practitioners and organisations focussing on cause, prevention, treatment, knowledge sharing and advocacy. Their varied events programme brings together leading professionals and knowledge in the field, as well as supporting varied research and professional development programmes on a global basis.

As the Organisation’s Event Manager (reporting directly into the Director of Operations) your role will be to plan and execute meetings and events, leading project teams from initial conception through to successful completion. This role requires the ability to define project tasks and milestones by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and suppliers, to ensure a successful event that meets the organisational goals.
Events are a mix of in-person and virtual, and include a Bi-Annual International Congress, their AGM, side events at the World Health Assembly and The UN General Assembly, EU Project Meetings and webinars, leadership programme, symposiums and special Training days.
Your role will be a mix of event project management and logistical delivery, liaising with varied internal and external stakeholders and internal teams (Policy and Education) as well as local suppliers (eg PCOs). There would be travel as part of the role – with events in Dubai and Australia (2022) for example, and you’ll be liaising with committees and varied stakeholders and speakers globally.  Specific responsibilties include:

  • Project Management of varied events, of varied sizes, both in-person and virtual
  • Act as point of contact, and actively manage the PCO delivering their Melbourne event this year
  • Oversight of 2024 International Congress, including speaker and committee management, venue and PCO management, overseeing outsourcing and delivery of abstract management, registration, travel, marketing and communications
  • Managing bid processes including RFP for future event suppliers
  • Managing events registration system (Blackthorn)
  • Work with committees and stakeholders to provide event content
  • International venue sourcing and management
  • Budget Management
  • Co-ordinate marketing plan and materials with the Communications team
  • Leadership programme co-ordination including organisation of events  and ‘schools’

We are looking for a motivated and pro-active, super organised Event Manager, with excellent communication skills, with experience organising international conferences and events, and experience of virtual event platforms too. You’ll be a personable team player, able to work across diverse cultures and countries, adept at dealing with Speakers and Suppliers alike, and interested to join a friendly, supportive team, passionate about their work in global health.  Specifically you’ll bring:

  • Experience of managing and organising in-person international conferences as well as online events and webinars.
  • Experience of managing an events budget, and briefing, selecting and managing external suppliers (ideally including PCOs)
  • Experience of working with committees (trustees/volunteers) (so ideally you will have an Association, Federation, Membership body background)
  • Knowledge of call for papers and abstract management – desirable
  • Previous use of Blackthorn, Salesforce, Asana or Slack platforms – desirable
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, personable and resourceful
  • Able to remain calm under pressure, and lead varied stakeholders with confidence and gravitas
  • Willing and able to travel internationally
  • An interest in public health would be desirable
  • Additional language at intermediate or advanced level desirable, not essential
