Manchester City Council works with an extensive range of event partners to deliver a vibrant annual programme of inclusive and high-quality events that have an important role to play in helping to support the economic and cultural recovery of the city as well as ensuring we can continue to contribute to the Our Manchester strategy outcome of making Manchester a world leading place for sport, leisure and culture by 2025.
Working collaboratively with commercial producers and promoters, national and international sports bodies, cultural practitioners and community groups, we are planning to deliver or facilitate a programme of over 50 events in the coming year that will attract in excess of one million attendees to the city and we are continuing to develop new approaches to how we add new events to the mix and how we fund our service to secure the long term, sustainable growth that will support the reboot and rebuild of the event sector in Manchester.
To support our ambition, an exciting opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivated individuals to join the City Council’s Events and Commercial Team in Event Manager roles to help us deliver these extraordinary event experiences for residents, businesses and visitors alike.
Alongside a proven track record in the management of live events, specific experience and understanding of event planning/health and safety processes and risk management is essential. You will have well developed leadership skills, excellent communication skills and sound commercial acumen -and will be able to demonstrate working in a calm, controlled, positive and effective manner, operating under your own initiate in a changing and challenging environment.
Working style: Blended/Hybrid Working
As a blended worker, you may be able to work from home or remotely some of the time, or for certain tasks or limited days or hours. For the remainder of the time, you will be required to work at council sites or offices. This will depend on your role’s responsibilities and your personal circumstances.
